Journalism internship on campus!

We have what I believe is be a rewarding journalism opportunity for an undergraduate communications and/or journalism student.

The Administrative Research Council (ARC) produces a semi-monthly eNewsletter, see http://arc.osu.edu/communications/ and https://carmenwiki.osu.edu/display/10040/ARC+Notes+-+March+2011 for recent examples. Currently the eNewsletter is developed and distributed in CarmenWiki.

The activities would involve assembling the news and announcements, proofing, editing, and formatting the content per the Ohio State style guide. This opportunity may also involve interviewing campus administrators and researchers and writing feature stories. There is also the potential of using other forms of media (podcasts, video) to produce content for this publication.

This is an unpaid internship opportunity that would report to me. Interested students may submit a resume, electronic portfolio, and/or business writing samples.

Start date would be spring quarter.

Thank you for considering this request and please let me know if there are any other questions.

For my 421 students

A couple of you have asked what exactly is due tomorrow. So again, please post something to your blogs that you find online that is closer to broadcast style writing than formal print style.  Here is a very short one I found. It can be straight b-cast style or more of a hybrid. I want to see that you know the difference!!

Also, find an article that I wrote and be prepared to “edit” it in class. It’s your chance for payback! Take advantage of it. You can simply link to the article on your blog and write up a few “suggestions.”

Here is a really great one I wrote. Absolutely perfect!

Lots more to talk about….

Start with the toughest assignments around.  Part 1 is here. Follow is here

There’s this…..

And this as well….

Let’s not overlook this one…
