Malarkey to lecture on stress and health Feb. 17

Dentistry’s Cultural Awareness Council is presenting a lecture by OSU professor of internal medicine and clinical researcher William Malarkey, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday (2/17) at 1188 Postle Hall. The lecture will focus on chronic stress, its effects on the human immune system, and its relationship to socio-economic status. Lunch is provided with RSVP by 4:30 p.m. Monday (2/14).

Feb. 18: Brennan to speak on why people vote

Geoffrey Brennan, distinguished research professor of philosophy at University of North Carolina, research professor in political science at Duke, and professor of economics at Australian National University, will discuss “Causal Responsibility and Voting” at 3:30 p.m. Friday (2/18) at the Mershon Center for International Security Studies. Brennan will challenge the argument that people vote because they believe voting is a moral duty. To register, contact by Wednesday (2/16).

Hutner to lecture on ‘The Twenty-First Century American Novel’

Gordon Hutner, professor of English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will deliver “The Twenty-First Century American Novel” at 2:30 p.m. Friday (2/18) in 311 Denney Hall. Hutner is author or editor of five books on an array of topics in American literary and cultural history. The event is free and all are welcome.
